Free residential home energy audits are available to help you recognize ways to save on your electric bills. Using things such as an infrared camera or blower door test equipment, your energy advisor can often determine where you may be losing energy dollars and offer you some simple ways to better “seal the envelope” and make your home more energy efficient.
Audits are best performed during winter and summer months when inside/outside temperature ranges are more pronounced. Air leaks and air infiltration are then easier to detect. They typically take 1-2 hours to complete, and are scheduled as time allows.
Saving energy not only helps our members with their monthly bills, but it’s the right thing to do. We are constantly looking at new techniques and technologies that will benefit our members. We can provide members who are thinking of building a new home with valuable information on such things as using the proper amount of insulation, controlling air infiltration, proper venting, doors and windows, and much more. Many of the same techniques can be used on your existing home to improve your energy usage and your comfort.
Energy audits can be scheduled through your Heartland REMC Energy Advisor Garrett Keiser. You can reach Garret through the form below, call 260-758-3155, or email gkeiser@heartlandremc.com.
